Interesting approach. I hadn’t tried dropping the nav controller in the objects tree like that. If you select the view controller in the tree and change its class to UINavController, the representation in IB shows it blank, but when you build and run it has the nav bar. Must be a bug.

Ethan, It has stood up pretty well, but we’ve sold the house, so not sure how it’s done the past year.. We didn’t have any movement of the stone.

I like the idea of mortar in AZ, as I expect grass would die pretty quick without a lot of water in the summer there.

I probably wouldn’t do anything differently if I was to do a flagstone patio again, it turned out really well.

I am building the same thing right now and I started out wanting grass in between and decided I don’t want the stones to move at all so I put mortar in between. I live in Arizona. How has the patio stood up to the test of time so far? Things you wish you would have done differently?

Aside from coding, what do you do on your Mac that you could not do on a 10″ iPhone? I think we’re going to be seeing more and more convergence where a lot of our computing is done on these tablets. I can see many uses, for example when W HD or wifi is fast enough, this thing could be your remote screen for your Pro in the office, that you just walk around and edit on with the same app, but a different UI. Email, web surfing, twitter, facebook, calendars, contacts, blogging, all of that stuff can be done on a sturdy device that slips in between the cushions of your couch. I can’t code, or play WoW on it, but other than that, I am finding a hard time finding stuff I do on the laptop that I would not be able to do on this.

Add in the fact that I REALLY want a 500gb fast SSD drive on my laptop, that is one less difference, and the keyboard, if apple would support bluetooth as an option, etc, I dunno, I can see us transitioning……. the network is the weak point, but that will be fixed at some point.

yeh I am moving or trying to move int fios territory, comcast with their charges for 5 up and 22 down. up speed never gets that far the most it goes to up speed is maybe 90 kbs. I wish the fcc would police the internet like they do the tv cable. I would like to see comcast loose all their territorys to verizon.

How sad! We have had such difficulties with insurance companies as many others in America have. We spent $30,000 in legal fees to get disability for a family member who had MS. IT’s a disgrace! Insurance companies should have bonded together years ago and developed a plan to cover the uninsured and keep costs down. But they didn’t. They were too greedy.

Comcast has placed governors on the bandwidth coming to your house. If you exeed the download speed limit for more than fifteen minutes, they bring down your internet access speed to a snails pace, school zone speed. T^his may last for hours or days. Did they think about modern homes that have wireless routers with multiple people on line at the same time ? Hmmmm, imagine that. I have four people in the house that need to use the internet at the same time. How are we suppose to know when we are exceeding the download capacity speed limit? After enough people get access to and switch over to FIOS, then Comcast will change thier tune. Until then, Comcast will behave much like the We don’t give a F^%$ Bush administration.

That is a good point, I don’t think I’ve read of anyone really wanting to develop a plugin/app for the Apple TV. The device might just be a way for them to get users to purchase iTunes store content.

It will be an interesting keynote if this 10.6 stuff is actually true.

I can’t see them opening the AppleTV up. They only relented for the iPhone after realizing that trying to pass Web apps off as native wasn’t going to sit with developers. I haven’t really seen anyone clamoring to develop native apps for the AppleTV.

I’m still conflicted on this whole 10.6 in January thing. Unless they offer this as a free upgrade (plus a $19 S&H fee) like 10.1, I can’t see people really lining up for this. 10.1 at least offered DVD playback and disc burning.

From a consumer standpoint, it just doesn’t make sense. From a developer’s standpoint, I’ll do a backflip.

AppleTV means I might be able to get rid of Netflix. I’ve been a Netflix member since they were founded, but I’m not a big movie watcher. I’m probably their favorite customer because I send them $20/month to watch maybe one movie a month. There are times I go months without watching any.

TiVo is great for recording movies from cable, but you’re stuck with the cable schedule. Although I admit I’ve not used the Amazon Unbox feature, so maybe I’m missing something good? But does that work if you’re away from home, stuck in a hotel, or visiting friends or family?

iTunes opens up the possibility (admittedly may take months or even years to build up the inventory) of watching any movie whenever you want and have the time to download it.

And it’s cool ’cause it’s from Apple!
