Feeling sick the past few days..

Ya, so I haven’t been feeling too hot the past few days, since returning from the mission trip.. I figured I had caught something on the way home, and it was starting to hit me..

This afternoon I realized that I basically stopped drinking water when I got home (probably 64 fluid ounces a day to maybe 12 a day).. and my symptoms felt like dehydration – muscle aches, very tired..

So I pounded back some water from the trusty water bottle, and lo and behold, I’m feeling pretty darn good now. It’s surprising what proper hydration does to a person.

Mac compatible Moxi Media Center gets new apps

Digeo, a company that makes media center software and services, has announced new entertainment and networking applications that run on the Moxi Media Centers… [MacMinute]

Ok, this looks really, really neat.. Moxi, I remember hearing about them a year or so ago.. the UI shots remind me a lot of the work I saw at Excite@Home, sitting near the guys working on the never shipped @Home setup box.

Looks like lots of Flash, lots of interaction. I love my TiVo, but a stand alone HDTV recorder, plus a way to watch recorded stuff on another tv.. I’d have to seriously, seriously consider it, if it ever shows up in my neck of the woods.

TiVo

Jennifer sent me a link on TiVo today. PluggedIn: TV Viewers Find TiVo Addictive.

The basic just of it is this: TiVo is good, people love it, but it causes some of them to watch more tv than the used too.

I used to be like this, when I first got my TiVo (in May of 2000), I had suggestions turned on.. and freaked out when I had tons of stuff “I had to watch”. My good friend Paul said turn it off, you don’t have to watch them.

Smart man! :-) I’ve found recently that if you leave stuff in the “Now Playing” list, eventually you care not to watch it. I had 3 West Wings, and I didn’t bother watching it. Basically I didn’t want to take 3 hours of my time to “catch up”.

My favorite new show? Joan of Arcadia. I find it intriguing that she can talk with God. Probably comes from me volunteering so much with the kids at Lake Grove. Anyway, it’s highly recommended, set your season pass up right now.

New Tivo

I bought a new TiVO yesterday, the Toshiba DVD/TiVO player. So far so good, bought the lifetime and HMO options yesterday.

I need to get a wireless usb adapter, so I can get my schedules down to the TiVO sooner.

It seems a lot faster than my Sony Series 1, in terms of ui responsiveness navigating around. Although I only have like 2 shows on that, vs the 40 or so on my Sony Series I…

More later, that might be useful to others. :-)

The Restaurant

So, I have to admit, I’m really liking “The Restaurant“. It might be because I’m really into cooking, and have a secret desire to work at a restaurant.

I have a feeling Mark Burnett is kinda playing me though. Maybe things are different when you are there, but Rocco DiSpirito is just making all the classic management mistakes. Like one of bartenders quits – she comes back the next day to talk to Rocco. What does he do? Offers her a management job, and gives her the ‘red Vespa’.

Surprise surprise, everybody else gets pissed.. geezz.. I told Jennifer, that’s a bad idea, the other employees are going to get really mad.

But then I think to myself, maybe it’s because I’ve just seen the past few episodes, and I know how mad everybody his, how much they are hating working there. Maybe Rocco doesn’t see it? Maybe he thinks everything is fine? If he does, he’s out of touch with his employees.

It was good to see him get into the kitchen, where he should be. Sure, he could walk around and greet people, but not all the time. You need to make sure your product (aka food) is good, hot, and tasty.

Anyway, that’s just my opinion. :-)
