So, it seems that the supposed 35 mpg CAFE limit for new cars by 2020 is, essentially, a lie. The CAFE mpg standard hasn’t been revised like the mpg on the sticker has.

There have been some bad experiences so far with Verizon FIOS tv:
- the FIOS HD DVR has settings for all season passes. The TiVo allows for individual settings per season pass. This is annoying when I want to save 10 Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, but only 1 of the local nightly news.

So far, so good in the FIOS TV switch.
The upside compared to Comcast:
- A lot more HD channels compared to our local Comcast lineup
- Cheaper per month
- The Verizon DVR is pretty good. The user interface is quick to respond, unlike my older TiVo Series 2 boxes.
The downsides compared to Comcast:
- No cable cards. [...]
I am, as I type this, getting Verizon FIOS TV installed at home. I’m quite looking forward to getting home tonight and trying it out.
It’ll be nice to have competition in television services - and nice to not send any more money to Comcast.
