iTunes Music Store song quality?

Hello all.

It’s been bothering me recently that the quality of the ripping on the iTunes store seems hit and miss.. I’ve bought some songs where they sound really good, and some, particularly tracks with heavy bass beats, which really sound horrible.

For example, check out These Words by Natasha Bedingfield. The preview, on my 12″ Powerbook is heavily distorted.

Or check out My Humps By Black Eye Peas. This sounds really horrible to me, I like the song, but I couldn’t spend $1.00 on such a poor rip.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, go check out Speed Of Sound by ColdPlay. This has reasonable bass, but seems to sound pretty good here. (Not as good as my 320 kbps AAC from an actual cd)

Is it just me? Have I lost a speaker on this 12″ Powerbook? Does AAC 128 really not handle bass at all?

I think I’m going to do some investigation on this. Check back soon.

Well. I haven’t posted this yet, but I just turned off the iTunes EQ, and things sound better now. Not super good, but a lot of the distortion is gone.

I’d love to hear comments, but I think I probably shouldn’t post things when I’m hopped up on Nyquil because of a super sore throat I woke up with today. Let’s hope it goes away tomorrow morning.

Did you ever wonder…

.. if the path you are currently on is the right path, or you should switch back to the path you were on before? If things look all dark and grim, but before things were ok?

I’m wondering if I’m on the right path right now… and I don’t know how to tell.

Donate to my sisters Parkinson’s Walk on September 24th

I’m asking for a lot of money, eh? This one hits closer to home. My dad last year was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. He’s doing pretty well, thankfully the drugs he takes help with containing the decease.

My sister Nicole has decided to do a “SuperWalk” in Calgary on September 24th to raise funds to Parkinson’s research.

If you can, also throw some money towards her by clicking here.. This one is a bit weirder, cause it’s Canadian, so you’ll see currency conversion on your credit card statement. But still, it’s an awesome cause.

Donate to my Brother in law’s LiveStrong ride for Cancer

I forgot to post this a while ago, but if you can afford to throw my brother in law Robin some money, click here to donate to his LiveStrong Ride next weekend.

Unfortuntely the deadline is today. Sorry, I’m a slacker at the weblog stuff. His dad, grandpa and uncle all were diagnosed with cancer this year. I just donated. He’s at $3150.00 right now. Thanks.
