Back From Mission 2005

I’m back from the Entheos Mission 2005 to Grand Bahama island. I’m going to (by this weekend) type up an entry describing the week long series of events.

Just an FYI for those of you who read the weblog and are wondering how it went. (I and other on the trip took about 1400 pictures, of which I have about 1000 of them now). :-)

Jennifer is fine…

Thanks Ben for your comment – Jennifer is fine, she tells me the eye didn’t hit hear here, so it was just a bad rainstorm, like something we might get in portland.. she’s back at work today, and raring to come home in a few days. :-)

FYI for everyone else reading out there.

Day one of the work day for the mission trip worked out well too – we took a really awesome group of kids, very hard working and very dedicated.

Jennifer’s Typhoon Haitang!

Well.. just talked to Jennifer, she’s doing fine.. she mentioned that Taiwan is going to potentially be hit by a typhoon on Monday.. although it is expected to be small by the time Monday rolls around.

Here’s a gif I found of the trajectory (click for a bigger version):

It’s produced by the military for US Government agencies.

Funny how a few days ago it was me, and now it’s going to be her. :-)

Etta James – Enduring Soul

If you go to a Starbucks, and buy Etta James – Enduring Soul (a great compilation cd of some of her favourites, which I’d link to but it’s so new that it’s not on starbucks.com yet), you can thank me when you stick it into your computer, and iTunes pops up and finds the track names.

I was quite shocked actually.. I’ve NEVER actually submitted a new cd track names (I did once submit some because of some typing mistakes I noticed).

This mornings bombings in London

I woke up this morning to hear of the bombings in London … some of you may know, but I am half Scottish and half French (born in Canada however).. so I have relatives in England and Scotland. I imagine they are all ok, because no one lives or works in London.

I’m just sad though. I was so excited yesterday that London got the 2012 Olympics, that Jennifer and I have planned to go to London for the month. Now I’m just sad people on our planet feel they have to blow themselves up to make a point.

In Two Weeks I’ll be in the Bahamas, NOT on vacation

Every year (well, this is the second) I go on a mission trip with the high school kids I volunteer with.. this year we are going to Freeport Bahamas to help rebuild after the hurricane last year..

Ya, they still haven’t rebuilt people’s houses and libraries… the hotels and such are rebuilt mostly, because they provide the majority of the tax dollars for the government.. sadly the people’s infrastructure is last on the list…

It’s going to be a hot and draining week though.. right now, at 7pm at night, it’s 86F, humidity of 74%, which feels like 96F. Florida in the summer, basically.. which I’ve only experienced once, and didn’t enjoy. :-)

All in the name of helping someone in the name of God I guess.. I’ll post more here about the trip, we leave on July 16th at 6:30am from Portland, and get back July 23rd at about 11pm.
