I was reading Dennis Cheung’s weblog entry about his 4 year anniversary at Microsoft, and I realized today is also my 4 year anniversary at Intuit, in their Macintosh development group.
I can say it’s been a hell of a ride, and a lot of changes in our small, but tight nit group, and I still enjoy working each day. Probably the only thing I don’t enjoy is working remotely, which I’ve been doing since November of 2000. Moving back to the bay area is always in the back of my mind, but I wonder if I do move back, will it be the old “grass is greener on the other side of the fence” adage as I look back on my time working in Portland?
I have to say, I’ve never been to Portland, but I’ve always thought it looked like a nice place to live and work. I’ve actually given some thought to trying to live there some day if I ever leave the Bay Area
.
I will admit that it is a really nice place to live and work in.. I think my biggest peeve right now is working at home all the time (I miss the human interaction during the day).
Although your comment Buzz makes me think I should keep my eye out for other interesting opportunities here.
I visited Portland once. Pretty neat place. Love the mass transit. But it suffers from the classic Pacific Northwest problem of slow drivers, and confusing streets.
Reminds me of this gem on Craigslist:

BTW, could you drop me an email? I got a question for you…
